Clonagh World Class has enjoyed unprecedented success on the UK show circuit this summer.
World Class, purchased by Hertfordshire-based Paull, Judy and Bridget Borlase at the Clonagh herd’s production sale in November 2009, is sired by Kilbride Farm Newry and out of the Anatrim Jacob daughter Clonagh Posh Klowna. He was one of the pair of Simmentals from the Borlase’s Sacombe herd that won the prestigious Burke Trophy at last month’s Royal Norfolk Show.
Originally awarded at the Royal Show, the Burke Trophy is now awarded at a different English county show each year and is one of the most highly coveted trophies in the UK beef cattle industry.
As well as clinching the Burke win, World Class was also breed and interbreed male champion at the Royal Norfolk and male and reserve breed champion at the English National Simmental Show, held at the East of England Show, Peterborough.
At the same show, a heifer calf by World Class, Sacombe Dainty-Bouquette, was also awarded the champion calf title.
On top of that he has enjoyed success at a number of other UK shows, including winning the Simmental championship and the reserve interbreed championship at Hertfordshire County Show in June and the Simmental championship at South of England Show in the same month. He was also first prize senior bull at the Royal Highland Show.
We continually followed World Class’ success through the year and were fortunate enough to witness his success in person at the English National Show. We are incredibly impressed with how World Class has grown on and are proud to have been able to breed a Burke Trophy winner. He’s breeding true to type in the Sacombe herd and his progeny are equally as impressive as he is.
We also got the chance to meet HRH Prince Charles at the East of England Show when he met with the prize winners from the English National Simmental Show.
