Rosebud was purchased at the Seabank Sale in 1991 having produced six calves in the Seabank herd. She was a half sister to Seabank Pedro out of Euro Melanie by Corah Kent. During her time at Clonagh from 1991 to 2000 she produced five females and three males. All of her daughters were retained and have since left their own individual stamp on the herd.
Top influences from Rosebud in the herd include:
TEMPTRESS POSH
Temptress is by Kilbride Farm Newry out of Clonagh Posh Klowna (sold to Drumsleed herd).
Her show highlights include:
Temptress was flushed as a heifer to Cairnview Snazzy – two embryos were given to the Drumsleed herd, Scotland, as a luck penny for two cattle purchased – one of the embryos produced Drumsleed Chevrolet 11 who was Junior Champion at the Forfar Stars of the Future Calf Show in 2011.
WORLD CLASS
World Class is a son of Posh Klowna, an Anatrim Jacob daughter sold to the Drumsleed herd, Scotland, for a then herd female record of €8,000 in 2009.
Posh bred two natural calves on farm, both by Kilbride Farm Newry, before being sold, Temptress Posh and World Class.
WC was sold to the Sacombe herd, UK for €6,600. He had an excellent show career including winning English National Male of the Year and the prestigious Burke Trophy in 2012.
World Class was purchased back from the Sacombe herd in Spring 2016. A testament to how stongly we belive in this cow family. Later that year he was crowned National Senior Bull Champion at Tullamore Show. Daughters of World Class in the herd have sold for a top of €5,000 for Jennalyn Jellybean Nora. His daughter, Clonagh Jenny Fabulous is the reigning National Senior Heifer Champion.
NEVA
Neva was a member of our first ever show team in 2003. As a yearling heifer she was Reserve National Yearling Champion and Reserve National Junior Cow in 2006. Shw was out of a Hillcrest Butcher cow, Clonagh Grace, by Freighduff Brendan.
Her ET-bred calf, Clonagh Tiger Gallant, by Dovefields Gallant was exported to Scotland to the pedigree herd of Michael Durno, Auchorachan Simmentals, in 2007.
Although we have no daughters in the herd her legacy has been preserved with offspring from Clonagh Tiger Gallant. A Tiger daughter, Clonagh Flashy Rubystar was a National calf champion at Strokestown and has been retained.
Tiger bulls have also sold extremely well for us with Jennalyn Elite Tiger selling for a top price in Roscommon Premier Sale of €8,200 after winning his Senior Male championship and Clonagh Horny Tiger G winning his National calf championship also topping the bull trade at a Premier sale in Roscommon selling for €5,000 after winning his Junior championship. Clonagh Eye of the Tiger was show as a calf at foot with Clonagh Absolutely Fabulous and later sold privately to Aberdeenshire for €5,000.
VENUS GRACE:
Venus was another daughter of Grace’s by Raceview King. She was successfully shown winning her class at the RUAS Balmoral in 2009. A bull breeder like her mother, she only left us one daughter, Grace Venus who was of course retained.
