Clough Sandra

Sandra was the first female purchased in the Clonagh herd, purchased at the RDS Spring 1989 with a heifer calf at foot, Clough Winnie. Sandra has numerous daughters and grandaughters still breeding exceptionally within the herd. The top Sandra progeny with females still in the herd include Clonagh Fiona, Clonagh Helen and Clonagh Hisolda

CLONAGH HELEN: 

Helen was a Hillcrest Butcher daughter of Clough Sandra. She has been a prolific bull breeder throughout her time in Clonagh. Her top progeny have included; Clonagh Topper, champion at both society premier sales in 2007. Exported to Northern Ireland €4,050 and Clonagh Valerie, reserve female champion Premier show and sale Roscommon spring 2008 selling for €5,000

Her granddaughter, Clonagh Trixie Kitty by Raceview King has proved to be a super breeding cow crossing exceptionally well with Banwy T-Rex. Her first daughter Clonagh Beauty was sold privately still on the cow to the Mohona herd. Second daughter, Clonagh Cutie Trixe was exported to the Bavington herd of JJ & JM Sanders, Northumberland, UK. 

Clonagh Dora the Explorer is the most successful show female born in to the family to date having won her National titles in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2022 as well as being the Overall Simmental of the Year 2014 and 2016. Her first calf Clonagh Horny Tiger G winning his National title as well as topping the bull trade at the Premier Sale in Roscommon in autumn 2016 selling for €5,000 and being tapped forward Junior Bull Champion on the day. A Kilbride Farm Dragoon son, Clonagh King of the Jungle was sold to an Italian AI station in April 2019. Clonagh Lucky Explorer now holds the European Simmental and Irish All Breeds record selling for €52,000 to the Popes herd, UK with a full brother selling privately to the Chestermann herd, Scotland at 10 months old. Two full sisters, Clonagh Moonlight Dora ET and Clonagh Moonstar Dora ET were sold at our Festive Females ’21 online sale for €9,200 and €7,400. Clonagh Miss Lucky Explorer ET is the National Intermediate Heifer Champion 2022. 

Clonagh Goldcard is another daughter of Trixie’s by Clonagh Direct Debit and proving to be just as good as her sister. First calf, Clonagh Kitty Trixie was Female Champion Tullamore society sale. She had a stunning Kilbride Farm Dragoon bull, Clonagh Lottery Ticket selling privately during lockdown. Her first Manor Park Hansome heifer, Clonagh Majestic Trixie was the National Senior Heifer Champion and Overall Simmental of the Year 2022 having been shown with her week old heifer calf. Full sister, Clonagh Miss Trixie Kitten sold for €7,400 at our Festive Females ’21 online sale. 

Clonagh Helen of Troy is Trixie’s last natural daughter, by Kilbride Farm Dragoon. Her first calf, by Banwy T-Rex, Clonagh Lola was sold privately. Her second calf, Clonagh Matador was Senior Male Champion and top price at the ISCS 50th Anniversary Sale selling to the Crudie herd in Scotland for €18,000. 

 

CLONAGH HISOLDA:

Hisolda was a Ballybane Edward daughter of Clonagh Annie. 

She was consistent breeder every year breeding bulls such as Clonagh Cha Ching and hisfull brother Clonagh Dynamo Star was sold for €3,400 at the society sale in Tullamore April 2013.

We currently have one daughter left in the herd, Clonagh BeeBee. Her daughter, Clonagh Honey Bee was Weanling Heifer Champion at the Autumn Premier sale 2016 selling for €5,400.

Our favourite Hisolda daughter was Rubystar. Clonagh Emerald Rubystar was female champion Tullamore society sale 2014 and subsequently sold privately. 

Clonagh Flashy Rubystar by Clonagh Tiger Gallant was National February calf champion Strokestown 2014 and was retained. She has had three calves by Kilbride Farm Dragoon. Her first calf Clonagh Henry Star was 3rd in the National Ploughing Bull Championship in 2017, Clonagh Jackpot Jim was sold for €3,000 at the Premier Spring sale in 2018. Her only heifer calf to date, Clonagh Krystal Rubystar was sold for €10,000 at our 30th Anniversary Draft sale to the Backmuir herd. Her powerful Manor Park Hansome son, Clonagh Maestro was sold privately. 

Rubystar’s  last daughter Clonagh Glitzy Rubystar was reserve female champion at the Premier Spring sale in Roscommon 2016 selling for €5,500.

FIONA:

Clonagh Fiona was a big Gretnahouse Supersonic cow out Clonagh. 

Tilly Fiona is an ET heifer out of Clonagh Fiona by Dovefields Gallant and a former Reserve National Champion (to her pen mate Temptress Posh) 

Her first calf Clonagh Accident by Clonagh Vom Vumb was Reserve National Ploughing Bull Champion 2010. 

Son, Clonagh Bartman by Carnkern Titan was retained as a junior herd sire and has since bred National Weanling bull champion Clonagh Edel’s Stuff Muffin exported to UK. His daughters have bred National champions in the form of Clonagh Kiana Miss Joan, National December Heifer Calf Champion 2019. 

Clonagh Dancing T was National Weanling Bull Champion at the National Livestock Show Tullamore 2013 and sold to the Williams herd, UK. She finally gave us a daughter by T-Rex, the aptly name Fiona Tilly who has been retained as well as a twin daughter by Kilbride Farm Dragoon. Her last natural calf, “Clonagh Hard Man” was National Junior Bull Champion Tullamore Show 2017.
