Jubilant day at National Simmental Show

We had an unforgettable day at the National Livestock Show in the field of dreams, Butterfield Estate, a day that will be hard matched by ourselves again with our team taking the DOUBLE, DOUBLE of championships in both the male and female sections!

Our queen of the day and Overall Simmental of the Year for 2019 was our Junior heifer, CLONAGH JUBILANT FABULOUS. Jubilant won the National Junior Heifer Class, Overall Female Championship and the Supreme Championship. This eye catching heifer is by Kilbride Farm Dragoon heifer is out of a Banwy T-Rex cow, Clonagh Delightful Fabulous. She will now reluctantly be offered FOR SALE at our 30th Anniversary Elite Female Draft at Roscommon on 26th October.

Clonagh Jubilant Fabulous

Reserve overall champion on the day went to the “Darling” of the farm, T-Rex’s favourite daughter, CLONAGH DARLING EYES. She had earlier won the National Senior Cow Championship and followed that with the Reserve Female Championship and Reserve Overall Simmental of the Year. Darling Eyes in obviously no stranger to success, being the reigning “Simmental Miss World” champion and having already won the National Show for the previous two years, unfortunately her hat trick wasn’t to be.

Clonagh Darling Eyes

We had one of those “pinch me” moments in the line up for the Senior Female Championship with our five queens lined up for the title. Darling Eyes, Hazel Eyes, Jenny Fabulous, Java and Jubilant all battled it out with the youngest and the oldest getting the al important tap out. An unforgettable sight and one that we are so proud to have been a part of.

Every queen needs a king, so the man of the moment and the Overall Male Championship went to our junior herd sire, MANOR PARK HANSOME. Hansome came through winning the National Senior Bull Championship and followed it on with the Overall Male. Hansome is by Slievenagh Extra Special and out of a Blackford Worzel daughter, Manor Park Daydream. We are absolutely delighted with his progeny to day. Four of his calves were shown on the day placing at the top of some extremely strong calf classes.

Taking the Reserve Male Championship and National Junior Bull Championship was our May 2018 born bull, CLONAGH KABOOM KID. He is by Kilbride Farm Dragoon out of a full sister to Darling Eyes, Clonagh Delightful Eyes. He will be offered FOR SALE at the Simmental Premier Sale in Roscommon on 26th October.

Taking the last of our main championships for the day was our Yearling Bull Champion CLONAGH KUNG FU FAB taking the Reserve Overall Junior Male title. It was a new championship added to the Simmental classes and one we are very please to be part of. Kung Fu is by Kilbride Farm Dragoon and out of one of our all time favourites, Clonagh Absolutely Fabulous, making him a genetic full brother to the Overall Champion, Jubilant Fabulous. He will be offered FOR SALE at the Simmental Premier Sale in Roscommon on 26th October.

Clonagh Kung Fu Fab

The most emotional moment of the day when we were once again presented with the Jenna Stone Memorial Trophy with CLONAGH JENNY FABOULOUS. It is a trophy we have be second in more times than we can count but we are honoured to bring her home for another year! Jenny Fabulous is a new addition to our team having made her first appearance at Athlone Show in May. She is by former Irish and UK National Champion, Clonagh World Class and out of a Banwy T-Rex daughter, Clonagh Enchanted Fabulous. Jenny will also be offered FOR SALE at out Elite Female Draft in October.

CLONAGH JAVA KLASSIK GIRL also won an incredibly strong National Intermediate Championship. She is by Kilbride Farm Dragoon out of a Starline Klassik daughter, Clonagh Wanda Star. She is incalf to our Junior herd sire, Manor Park Hansome and will also be offered FOR SALE in our Elite Female Draft.

Taking the National Junior Cow/In Calf Heifer Championship was our already twice National Champion, CLONAGH HAZEL EYES. She is by Kilbride Farm Dragoon out of Clonagh Darling Eyes. She is also in calf to Manor Park Hansome and we honestly cannot wait to see what the future holds for this red lady!

In the normal classes on the day, a very well deserved red rosette went to our baby bull calf, CLONAGH LUCKY EXPLORER winning the February onwards bull calf class. Lucky is by Manor Park Hansome out of twice Overall Simmental of the Year, Clonagh Dora the Explorer. This May born bull was giving away two months to the next oldest calves and we really are exciting to see what the future will bring for this little man!
