The Clonagh and Jennalyn herds ran a successful timed auction over three days closing on Monday 13th December in association with Mart Eye Elite and Mid Tipp Mart, Thurles comprising of 36 lots in total; Simmental, Limousin and Angus with 28 females, 4 bulls and 4 frozen embryos. Videos and photos of all lots were available to view on both Mart Eye and the Clonagh herds websites and social media prior to the sale to showcase the animals.
Topping the Simmental, female and overall trade on the night after a flurry of bidding at €9,200 was “Clonagh Moonlight Dora ET”, a 12 month old daughter of the former twice overall Simmental of the Year, Clonagh Dora the Explorer. She is by the herds senior herd sire, Manor Park Hansome making her a full sister to the record priced €52,000 Clonagh Lucky Explorer.

Keeping it in the family, her full sister, “Clonagh Moonstar Dora ET” and a 7/8 sister “Clonagh Miss Trixie Kitten” both sold for €7,400.

Among other top prices in the Simmental section were “Clonagh Nelly Miss Joan” a 10 month old Kilbride Farm Dragoon daughter selling for €7,800 and “Clonagh Nikki Vikki Eyes” an 8 month old daughter of former Miss World, Clonagh Darling Eyes selling for €5,400.

The Limousin section saw six heifers offered with a top of €5,400 for a Tomschoice Lexicon daughter, “Clonagh Rebecca” and €3,700 for a Mas Du Clo daughter “Clonagh Saoirse”.

A small section of three Angus heifers also saw a top price of €5,800 for the Kiersbeath Karma daughter, “Clonagh Tiddles Frances” and a second highest price of €3,600 for another Karma daughter “Clonagh Thumbelina”.

Overall the female section of twenty eight heifers with an average age of 11 months (16 – 7 months old) yielded an average of €4,500 overall with a 93% clearance rate.
Four Simmental bulls were also offered for sale topping at €7,600 for a Manor Park Hansome son, “Clonagh Million Dollar ET” out of Corbally Vintage Katie. Second highest of the bulls was another Hansome son, “Jennalyn Mustang Rose” selling for €3,000. Both bulls were born December 2020.

Four grade 1 frozen embryos attracted huge interest with a top of €1,150 for an embryo out of a Clonagh Edel daughter, “Clonagh Truly Scrumptious D” by the herds former herd sire, Banwy T-Rex. Two embryos from “Cloneygowan Temptress Posh” sold for €950 and €850 while an Ideal 23 embryo out of a Nenuphar daughter, “Cloneygowan Velvet” sold for €900.
Heifers and bulls sold from the sale are heading to 10 different counties in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
This was the second sale run by Mart Eye Elite since launching their new portal. At its peak the sale was being viewed online by 2226 viewers across 15 countries with a total of 99 bidders on the night and 900 bids placed on the 36 lots.
