We had a good days trading at the Premier sale in Roscommon with both herds to the fore in both show and sales ring.
In the show section we were awarded the reserve male champion by Scottish Judge Brian Allan of the Glenturk herd, newton Stewart, Scotland, with Jennalyn Cavilier Rose, a 13 month old bull sired by Omorga Volvo and out of a Rosten Barney daughter Jennalyn Rosie ET. He was purchased by Fred Shuttleworth, Gormanstown, Co Meath at €4000.
Leading the trade for us in the sales ring was our pick of the day, Clonagh Buckarooney Truly selling for €6000 to Rhys Grenham of the Boars Head herd, Sussex, UK. “Buck” is by Banwy T-Rex out of a Raceview King daughter, Clonagh Truly Scrumptious making him a full brother to last years National Ploughing bull champion Clonagh Awesome Truly.
Next up and best for the Jennalyn herd was Jennalyn Billy Bobby by Banwy T-Rex out of another Raceview King daughter Jennalyn Vee Duffy. He sold to James Cosgrove, Enfield, Co. Meath to run with pedigree Luing heifers. We look forward to following his progress in the coming years.
Selling at €4800 was Clonagh Bravo by Banwy T-Rex out of a Dovefields Gallant daughter, Clonagh Temptation.
Our final bull to sell was Clonagh Chieftain ET by Banwy T-Rex out of a Rosten Barney daughter, Milton Sapphire ET. He was earlier placed second in his class to the overall champion and sold for €4000 to Richard Tyrell, Edenderry, Co. Offaly.
