Clonagh genetics were to the fore at Balmoral Show this year, not only in our own show team but in the pedigree of the overall Simmental champion as well.
Having made the journey up to the new venue at Balmoral Park, The Maze, we received some great feedback from breeders and on lookers from both sides of the water, so it was a great way to kick start the show season for us.
Doing the business for us having won the cow and calf class before going on to stand reserve female and reserve supreme champion was the October 2009 born Clonagh Absolutely Fabulous.
“Abby Fabby” as she’s more commonly known at home, is no stranger to success as she has stood reserve female of the year in 2011 and 2012 and winner of three National Show titles.
By our Welsh-bred stock bull Banwy T-Rex, himself a former Balmoral Show champion in 2009, she is out of Cloneygowan Shania Babe ET. She was shown with her Clonagh Tiger Gallant bull calf at foot, Clonagh Eye of the Tiger.
Carrying on the success for the herd was Jennalyn Crimson Lady, our January 2011-born maiden heifer who won the two year old heifer class. By T-Rex, she is out of Jennalyn Scarlet, an ET-bred heifer by Raceview King out of Milton Hilary. She also teamed up with Abby Fabby to clinch the pairs title.
The third member of the show team, Clonagh Darling Eyes, another T-Rex daughter, this time out of our former multi award winning Milton Senhorita, an ET-bred daughter of Rosten Barney, stood second in the yearling heifer class.
A huge congratulations to Leslie and Christopher Weatherup who took the overall championship with Slieveroe Caroline, a daughter of Clonagh Willow a Hockenhull Maverick daughter of Milton Seabank sold to Adrian Bateman in 2009.
